FAQs

What are my accomodation options?

We currently have several rooms booked at the Westin Princeville Ocean Villas Resort, and a 3-Bedroom Vacation Home rental at Mauna Kai (5 minute walk between both).

Currently, we are thinking about the following arrangements:

Westin Princeville - 2-Bedroom Room: Mike, Debbi, Heather, Matt & Studio Room: Jason, Jessica

Mauna Kai - 3-Bedroom Apartment - Emma, Brandon, Tiina, Paul, Alex, Betsy

Please let us know as soon as possible if you need help coordinating a place to stay as the island has limited accomodations remaining during our travel period!

We have both options booked from 10/8/2021 (check in 4pm) to 10/13/2021 (check out 11:00am)

When Are Guests Arriving?

We have our accomodations options booked from 10/8/2021 to 10/13/2021

Emma and Brandon will be arriving to Lihue (LIH) Airport on 10/8/2021 at 9:30pm and will be departing on 10/15/2021 (After spending several days Honeymooning. We will be leaving the north side of the island, Princeville, on 10/13/2021).

Which Airport Should I Fly To?

The closest available airport to the accomodations and elopment is Lihue (LIH) Airport.

Transportation?

Emma and Brandon have booked a car from 10/8/2021 to 10/13/2021. We will be happy to assist in helping you get from the airport to the hotels, but please note the drive can be approximately 30-45-60 minutes depending on traffic, so we would like to limit or group trips as closely as possible.

Currently, we have groups of guests departing at 8:05pm on Monday 10/11 and another on 10/13 at 9:00am. We can currently accomodate more guests in these vehicles for these departure times.

We have been notified that Ubers have limited availablity due to the reduction in workers from the Covid-19 epidemic. They may be expensive. If you are considering you own rental car, we recommend booking ASAP as there is a shortage! We rented via the CarShare service, called Turbo.

On the day of the elopmenent, 10/10/21, we will have a 14-person Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van to drive us from the hotels to our ceremony, dinner, and back to the hotels in the evening. Please let us know if you plan to drive seperately to any of these events so we can provide you with their addresses.

Is There a Dress Code? What's the Weather Like?

Research tells me that Kauai in October ranged from highs and lows of 76° / 60°. As our wedding will be outdoors, near a waterfall, please note we will not always be walking along paved pathways, and we recommend a sweater for evenings! Please wear, or bring a change of shoes, that you are comfortable walking in for about 5-10 minutes, and standing in for approximately 1 hour, on unpaved road. October is also generally a rainy month in Kauai, so a change of shoes may be a good idea in case the weather is not in our favor!

Dress is to be Beach Semi-Formal/Cocktail - we just want you to be comfortable! Think, more than a bikini, but far less than a black tie, Tommy Bahama/Island Linens totally welcome, we just ask you avoid a pure white color for obvious reasons!

For advice from Brides Magazine!: "Think normal semi-formal attire but with summer suits, breathable fabric, and touches of tropical elements. Remember: This isn’t a family outing at the beach —it’s still a wedding. Leave the bathing suits and swim shorts at home and if opting for sandals, make sure they’re dressier than your normal beachy flip flops. Whether it’s a breezy maxi dress, a seersucker suit, or something more formal, beach attire is a fun way to showcase your personality and rock some warm-weather favorites — just be sure to lather on the sunscreen!"

Do I Need to Be Vaccinated to Attend?

Yes, generally speaking we would prefer you be vaccinated to attend the ceremony for everyone's protection. If you are not vaccinated, please continue to wear proper face masks, and you will be asked to keep an appropriate social distance. https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel/faqs/

1. What do I need to participate in the vaccine exception program?
Any traveler who is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the United States or U.S. Territories will be eligible for the quarantine exception. This means two shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of Johnson and Johnson plus 15 days after the last dose.

2. Travelers must still create an account in Safe Travels Hawai‘i

Enter their trip details, upload their vaccination documentation, sign the legal attestations, and within 24 hours of departing to Hawai‘i, complete the online health questionnaire.

3. Travelers will need one of the following vaccination records as proof of vaccination:

 - A CDC COVID-19 vaccination card (preferred)

 - VAMS (Vaccine Administration Management System) printout or certificate

 - DOD DD Form 2766C.

 - A SMART Health Card with your vaccine record (which can be uploaded via CommonPass or vaccine record uploaded to CLEAR Health Pass)

 - Proof of vaccination (source document) provided by a medical provider or authorized COVID-19 vaccination administrator.

4. The documents listed above must clearly state:

 - Traveler’s name and date of birth (which must match the name on the traveler’s Safe Travels account and their official photo ID)

 - Vaccine type (i.e., Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson)

 - Date(s) vaccination was administered

 - Lot number(s) for each shot

 - Vaccination site or location which must be within the United States or its territories.

5. All information must be clear and readable.

If a traveler’s document is missing information, they should return to the provider to request a completed duplicate CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or proof of vaccination. Additionally, the traveler can contact their local Department of Health. If this requirement is revised in the future, it will be posted on our Hawai‘i COVID-19 website.

6. Create an online account and register with the State of Hawaii’s Safe Travels Hawai‘i Digital Platform

Enter the trip information for your flight from the U.S. Mainland, Alaska or U.S. Territory to Hawai‘i.

7. Upload your vaccine documents – they can only be uploaded into the system when linked to a trip in your account – fill out the necessary information and sign the legal attestations. Note: Once the vaccine data is verified either by the Department of Health’s Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange (DOH HHIE) system or by airport personnel, it can be used for future trips. You will not have to upload your vaccine document again.
Bring the original or hard-copy CDC Vaccination Record Card, VAMS printout, VAMS printout or certificate, DD 2766C or vaccination source document with you when you travel to show the screeners either at your boarding gate or once you have arrived in Hawai‘i (physical documents are preferred but digital copies will be accepted subject to further scrutiny). Screeners will review to ensure that the uploaded documentation matches your photo ID and the name in your Safe Travels account, that the information is complete, and it is 15 days past the last shot. They will also verify that the documentation is uploaded and the attestations are signed.
